THE FLOWER BEHIND THIS PRINT
Paphiopedilum godefroyae — known to collectors as Mrs. Godefroy's Paphiopedilum — grows low on limestone cliffs in Thailand, just above the sea, tucked into leaf litter and moss where few people ever look. Its bloom is small, waxy, and round — creamy white scattered with burgundy-brown spots, centered by a soft white lip that looks almost hand-finished. It flowers only once a season, in a place most of us will never stand. We photographed it exactly as it grows — not redrawn, not softened — and let that pattern become this fabric, carried forward instead of reinvented.
