THE FLOWER BEHIND THIS PRINT

Pale Face Clown is a distinctive, heavily-blotched selection of Phalaenopsis Pale Face, a hybrid registered in 1970 (Phal. lindenii × Phal. deliciosa) by Thornton's Orchids. "Clown" refers to a Harlequin-type cultivar within that hybrid — grower-named for its bold markings rather than separately registered, since cultivar names aren't tracked by the RHS register the way the underlying cross is. Its blooms are a pale, creamy-white base heavily blotched in irregular patches of deep magenta, maroon, and purple, with no two flowers exactly alike. This print is taken directly from a real Pale Face Clown flower, not redrawn or invented.

Pale Face Clown carries a pattern photographed directly from the real flower — not redrawn or invented. A Harlequin-type Phalaenopsis, its blooms are a pale, creamy-white base heavily blotched in irregular patches of deep magenta, maroon, and purple — no two flowers exactly alike.
