Xen Phoenix: The Newest Name in an Eighty-Hybrid Family Line

Xen Phoenix is one of the youngest flowers in this collection — registered with the RHS International Orchid Register on March 12, 2024. It carries a name that sounds almost mythological, but everything about it is documented: a specific breeder, a specific cross, a specific spring morning it became official.

A very deliberate cross

Phalaenopsis Chian Xen Phoenix is a hybrid bred by Fu-Liang Huang in Taiwan — a cross of Phal. Lioulin Moon and Phal. Galah Cockatoo. It's part of Huang's "Chian Xen" breeding line, a family of more than sixty registered hybrids bred between 2002 and 2025. Xen Phoenix is one of the newest entries in that long-running project — a single new bloom in a line its breeder has been shaping for more than two decades.

Two decades of breeding, one new flower

Every hybrid in the Chian Xen line traces back through generations of Phalaenopsis crosses — a genus with roughly 80 million years of evolutionary history behind it, even though this particular bloom is only two years old. That's the honest tension at the center of this print: nothing about Xen Phoenix is ancient. The cross is recent, the registration is recent, the flower itself has barely had time to become well known. But the biology it's built from — the same genus behind the Phalaenopsis and Rancho Bariloche prints in this collection — goes back further than most living things on Earth.

Why we're not describing a color we haven't verified

From real flowers to abstract art, inspired by nature. We draw on the colors, markings and textures of real flowers, transforming their natural details into abstract patterns designed to be worn.

The Xen Phoenix Orchid Leggings and matching Long Sleeve Crop Top carry that pattern onto recycled, made-to-order fabric — printed only after it's ordered, so nothing sits in a warehouse waiting to be sold.

Most orchid names take decades to become familiar. Xen Phoenix has had less than two years. Wear it early.
